Description
Here is a NOS high power band switch, actually made by Radio Switch but exactly same as Multi tech series 86 switches made today. This switch was custom configured for a specific application but never installed. As best as I can describe its action below:
The detent is 12 positions however best I can figure out it is intended as a 6 position switch.
The main deck rotor has 3 consecutive fingers and the stator has 6 fingers consecutive.
The second deck rotor also has 3 consecutive fingers in the same position as the main rotor.
If you position the switch so that the main rotor is not contacting the first stator position, the second rotor will also not be in contact. Move to next position (CW) the main rotor connects to first stator finger and second rotor also connects to second stator finger. Move again CW and main rotor now connects to 1st and 2nd finger while second rotor stays connected to original. Move CW again and main rotor now contacts 1st, 2nd and 3rd stator fingers. second rotor still on original contact. Move CW again and main rotor now contacts 2nd, 3rd, 4th main stator fingers and second rotor moves off first contact and picks up second contact. Move CW again and Main rotor advances to 3rd, 4th and 5th contacts while second rotor is unchanged - still on second contact. Last CW move Main rotor advances to 4th, 5th, sixth positions and second rotor still in contact with second finger.
If you followed that you can see the second deck would be used for a couple padding capacitors. There are 3 additional contacts on the second deck but they do not seem to come into play, just spares I guess.
